Grading
-
For the purpose of assigning a quarter grade for the course, the teacher will weigh each student’s work approximately as follows: points earned divided by points possible.
-
Letter grades will follow the Pinellas County grading scale and reflect the percentage of points earned each quarter.
PCS Portal
-
Assignments are posted in PCS Portal with start and end dates.
-
Grades are entered when assignments have been graded.
-
An assignment is not a zero unless a zero is entered.
Homework
Homework must be complete at the beginning of the period for which it was assigned unless otherwise directed.
Attendance and Make Up Work
If homework was given prior to your absence, it is due when you return. If you are present when classwork, homework, project, test, etc. is assigned, it is due when you return from an absence. Unless an assignment was given prior to your absence, you have a day for each day absent to makeup homework. Making up work missed because of absences is your responsibility.
Students will be marked absent if they are not in attendance for face-to-face or live instruction. Students are expected to attend during the regularly scheduled class times. If they are not present, they must complete the make-up work and will receive full credit but will still be marked absent.
Late Work Policy
Each assignment must be complete at the beginning of the period for which it was assigned unless otherwise directed.
Students will be allowed to turn in work only up to ONE day past the due date for half credit. After that, the student will receive a zero.

My Philosophy

My deepest desire as a teacher is to encourage my students to strive for more than mediocrity. I would like my teaching to move beyond the fundamentals and foster critical and creative thinking, facilitate the acquisition of life-long learning skills, and provide problem solving strategies.

My History

I am a graduate of all Florida schools: Belcher Elementary, Oak Grove Middle, Clearwater High, and the University of Florida. Go Gators! I am proud to be a Florida Gator and graduated with a major in English and a minor in Secondary Education. After college, I moved back home and began teaching at Osceola. This is my 19th year teaching Language Arts and my 17th year teaching Yearbook.
